There are some moments in life that feel almost too magical to be real - moments that remind you how everything somehow connects in the most beautiful way. For us, that moment was baking our Strawberry Champagne Cupcake parfaits with Oprah Winfrey. Yes, the Oprah!
From the second we walked onto the set, there was this incredible energy in the air - a mix of warmth, excitement, and pure joy. Oprah was exactly as you’d hope she’d be: kind, funny, and so genuinely present. She greeted everyone with that signature smile that has lit up living rooms for decades - including our grandmother’s.
Growing up, our grandmother never missed an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. We remember sitting beside her on the couch, watching Oprah interview guests, share stories, and imparting her wisdom across the screen. To be standing there many years later, baking with her, felt like the universe had folded time into one sweet, full-circle moment.
Together, we made our Georgetown Cupcake Strawberry Champagne Cupcake Parfaits - layers of fluffy champagne-infused strawberry cupcakes, whipped champagne buttercream, and juicy strawberries, and our signature chocolate ganache, all layered in a champagne flute. The set filled with the smell of sugar and celebration. Oprah was laughing, tasting, and adding extra champagne to the recipe before we were done (which, honestly, made us love her even more).
Between mixing and frosting, we talked about family, working together as sisters, and the simple power of doing what you love. It reminded us that baking - and life -are both about connection. The ingredients matter, but it’s the people you share it with that make it special.
As we looked around the set, we couldn’t help but think of our grandmother - how she would’ve smiled seeing us there beside Oprah, whisking away and living a dream she helped shape.
It wasn’t just a baking segment. It was a reminder that every small moment, every recipe, every spark of inspiration leads you somewhere meaningful. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, that “somewhere” includes Oprah Winfrey and a bowl full of strawberry champagne goodness.
